Marc Chagall (1887-1985)

Marc Chagall was a Russian-French painter of Jewish religious affiliation. The family environment, his hometown Vitebsk and motifs from the Bible as well as from the circus are the main themes of his pictures. Chagall is considered one of the most important painters of the 20th century.
