Collection: Charles Sambono (1954-2021)

Charles Sambono was a Zurich-based artist with multicultural visions and enjoyed international success early on. He exhibited in his home country Zambia, Nigeria, Japan, England, USA, Germany and Switzerland, among others. Our collaboration with Charles began in 2001 and has always been extremely inspiring and lively. His works will continue to be.

In his pictures, Charles dealt with physicality: the power and also the vulnerability of human dynamics are central to his work. He asks questions about identity and gender, which are emphasized by bold lines, curves and bold colors. The play of light and the resulting atmosphere are typical of his work. He worked primarily with oil and pastels. He painted his figures virtuously with a few expressive lines. His images explore the sensuality of human relationships and provide a prosaic insight into our physical, emotional and spiritual existence.
